Fall is officially here! Thoughts of jeans, boots, sweaters, and PUMPKIN EVERYTHING…. right?!

#Pumpkin is a healthy food on it’s own. It is packed with Vitamin A, fiber, and not too bad on

the caloric front. When you add all the sugar and cream to those Fall flavored beverages, that’s when it gets ugly.

Here is a dose of reality:

-STARBUCKS 16 oz. Pumpkin Spice Latte with 2 % milk and whipped cream: 380 Calories; 14 grams of fat (8 saturated); 50 grams of sugar.
-McDONALDS Medium Pumpkin Spice Latte: 340 calories, 10 grams of fat (6 saturated); 48 grams of sugar.
-DUNKIN DONUTS Medium Pumpkin Spice Latte: 340 Calories; 9 grams of fat (5 saturated); 51 grams of sugar.
-PANERA BREAD Pumpkin Spice Latte: 450 Calories; 11 grams of fat (6 saturated); 53 grams of sugar.
-DUNKIN DONUTS Pumpkin Muffin: 550 Calories; 24 grams of fat (5 saturated); 40 grams of sugar.

You can easily drink/eat half a days worth of calories with ONE of these choices. YIKES!

Here is a healthy alternative to your Pumpkin Spice Latte:

1 cup hot coffee
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (heated if desired)
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
sweetener to taste
-Whisk 1/3 cup coffee with remaining ingredients. Pour into remaining coffee.

SERVINGS: 1; CALORIES: 52.8; FAT: 2.7 grams.
