“I have spent my entire adult life being overweight. And, I’ve spent the last decade inching my way up the scale every year. I was ’satisfied’ with who I was physically and playing the eternal role of the ‘funny fat girl’ among my friends. I long ago resigned myself to the fact that being an in-shape woman was not in the cards for me. I was overweight, okay, obese, and I kidded myself into believing that was okay.
The thing is, it wasn’t okay. I was simply making up reasons not to take better care of myself. If it wasn’t genetics it was economics, right? I knew these were weak excuses. Genetics? I am the heaviest in my family. Economics? Somehow I managed to order out for Chinese and Italian numerous times per week and continued to buy larger clothes at the specialty shops. I was fooling myself. I just needed something to get me going.
I came into Healthy Fit on the last day of September last year just to ‘check it out.’ That is the day I met Lisa. We talked for a long time about the nutrition program and what it involved on a personal and financial level. What struck me most was the success Lisa had on the program. I decided to give it a try.
I signed up for the initial 6-week nutrition program and bought myself a package of training sessions with Suzanne. Needless to say I was so pleased with the results in the first six weeks I signed on again, and again, and well, again. My entire outlook on health and nutrition has changed. Not only am I eating healthier and working out, I also quit smoking after twelve years.
I am amazed at the changes in my lifestyle in just the last seven months. I have lost over 60 pounds, I feel great, and I am smaller than I was when I graduated high school! I still can’t believe it.
The hardest part for me was learning how to eat right and keep a meal log. Oddly enough, the key to my success was just that: learning how to eat right and keep a meal log. The accountability of the weekly check-ins made me understand I had to make myself a priority. Everything else would follow.
And it has. I still think I’m funny, but I now participate in hiking trips with friends. I can keep up with my nieces and nephews. I look forward to getting gussied up for nights on the town. And this summer I won’t be embarrassed to wear shorts at family barbecues. Most of all I have so much more energy than before! I want to be doing things and out there enjoying life. Thank you Healthy Fit for opening my world to the new and improved – stronger and nutrition savvier – version of me!”
